All praise be to Allah, who encouraged us to “Do good; for Allah loves those who do good.”¹ Peace and blessings be upon his messenger Muhammad ﷺ who said: “The best of people is one whose life is long and his conduct is good.”² And blessings be upon his companions who followed suit. Everything comes from Allah and to him we shall return. Adab and Imaan are companions, the former strengthens the latter. Remember Allah, and he will remember you in the hereafter.
Shaykh Saleem Dhorat explains in this treat size book the importance of ‘Good conduct and Social behaviour’ in a meticulous manner. This book is a translation of the original Urdu book ‘Husne-adab Husne-mu’asharat’. The contents of this book has been summarised in the forward as a presentation of:
‘Amazing examples of the pious predecessors and of contemporary mashayikh in both these areas who demonstrated and presented to us the true spirit of Islamic culture.’
The respected author concentrates on Adab and mu’asharat both in his ‘formal and informal gatherings’. The Shaykh reminds us that adab is a very integral part of our Din. This book accentuates the need of adab and mu’asharat in our lives. The author includes key yet short reminders appropriately, educating the reader the vitality for adab and mu’asharat. Not only does the author highlight the challenges but also provides a solution to the issues. There is also an addition of stories, poems of scholars and references to Hadiths to heighten its importance and relevance in the modern society amongst youngsters and elders.

Shaykh Muhammad Saleem Dhorat was born in 1962, trained as a traditional scholar. He displayed great signs of piety and zeal for knowledge from a young age. Shaykh Saleem (rah) arrived in England in 1973 at the age of 11 along with his mother and siblings. Shaykh Saleem’s father Hafiz Ibraheeem Dhorat rahmatullahi alayh who was an Imam in Leicester, was also renowned for his servitude to the community. In 1980, Shaykh Saleem Dhorat enrolled to become an Alim at Darul Uloom Al Arabiyah Al Islamiyah based in Bury, Lancashire. After completing his studies, Shaykh Saleem Dhorat remained at Darul Uloom for a further five years as a lecturer. He taught books such as Usulus Shashi, Hidaayatun Nahw, Mirqaat, Hidaayah and the well-known book of Hadeeth, Riyaadus Saliheen. Shaykh Saleem is highly regarded as one of the senior scholars of this country.
In 1991 Shaykh Saleem Dhorat founded the Islamic Dawah Academy. The main aim was to educate and help the youth understand the teachings of Islam. The academy initially began from his home, and later progressed over the years to have thousands of visitors from all over and a mass provider for religious guidance, courses, community services and da’wah amongst non-Muslims, youth activities and publications. The academy holds regular talk and tours for visiting luminaries from around the world and it is recognised for its monthly magazine, Riyadul Jannah. May Allah accept all of his efforts and grant him a lofty status in Jannah. Ameen.
